Deciding not to have kids and to get a cat instead, we rescued a little black kitten, calling him 
which means “Full Home” in Chinese, and sounds like “manja“, which means affectionate and needy in Malay – everything we were hoping for him to be.
Turns out he was not manja at all. Having been born and bullied in an army camp, he was super scared of humans. We tried everything but nothing worked. As a last resort, we decided to get a second socialised cat in hopes that it could help see that humans weren’t scary.
