They think you’re a great adventure buddy. If your kitty practically lives under your feet, they are probably just trying to protect you while they follow their instinctual need to know where their parents are going.

Cats are descended from wild ancestors and when they are kittens they form strong bonds with their mothers. When they get older, they will want humans in their lives who act as proxy mothers or father figures. And because of their natural instinct. This is why they follow you, and it’s not just because of your treats. But because they want to be near you so that they can feel safe, secure and well taken care of. Although this may seem odd to you as the owner but, it makes perfect sense to the cat.
